Alex is a theologian, social worker, and nonprofit leader who works at the intersection of food, land, and community. He and his wife, Malu, are creating Watershed Row—a vibrant pedestrian oriented block in downtown Klamath Falls, Oregon that introduces people to local food, art and nature. Alex has worked in community organizing, nonprofit development, youth development, and food systems in New England, the American Southwest, and the Pacific Northwest. Alex deeply wants to help create a resilient local food web that is good for people, the land, and all our plant and animal relatives. After studying World Religion as an undergraduate at Dickinson College, he earned his Master of Divinity and Master of Social Work from Boston University. There, Alex's research interests included Christian theologies of suffering and trauma, liberation theologies, Christian histories in relationship with Native Americans, theology and ecology, community organizing and development, and membership organization building. He loves mountains and water; he hikes, bikes, skis, and paddles when he isn’t in his garden with Malu and their son.

Ross is a poet, educator and entrepreneur. He founded a environmental education camp in northwest Alaska, launched a boutique leadership development firm out of Harvard’s i-lab, and served on the leadership team of an ed-tech start-up in Boston. Ross grew up hiking in the Catoctin Mountain Park in western Maryland, where he found the trail and forest conducive to reflection on religious and spiritual questions. As a young adult, he served in seasonal educational, natural resource management, and backcountry positions at Big Bend National Park and Western Arctic National Parklands, where he continued to feel the same.
As a Jewish educator, he has taught young adults through Kevah in Somerville, MA and 12th graders at Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy in Bryn Mawr, PA. He has served in a range of educational settings, including on farms, psychiatric rehab centers, and in small-town Israel. He previously served as a Teaching Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and recently as an Instructor at the Center for Public Humanities at Arizona State University. Ross is an alumnus of the Conservative Yeshiva, Yeshivat Hadar, Beit Midrash Harel, Yashrut and elsewhere. He holds an EdM from Harvard and a BA from Dickinson. Ross lives with his wife and two daughters outside of Philadelphia.
